Pappulusu ( traditional)

Ingredients--

toor dal (kandi pappu) - 1 cup ,

tamarind paste ---1 table spoon

1 small onion - cut

2 green chillies -cut

pinch of turmeric powder

salt to taste

1 table spoon ghee or oil for seasoning

seasoning -- 1 red chilly ,1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds ,1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds , 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds ,3 pods garlic mashed , curry leaves .

METHOD

clean toor dal and add 3 cups of water and cook in pressure cooker on a low flame till 7 whistles ,let it cool and remove lid and mash dal with a churner or a spoon .add 4 glasses of water

and add onion,green chilly ,turmeric powder , salt , tamarind paste and mix well .let it boil for 1/2 an hour on low flame ,add seasoning .
